OSTEOPATHIC EDUCATION
Under the aegis of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and the former Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, an Osteopathic Rotating Internship was approved in 1991. In 2004, the full residency was approved by the AOA for family practice.

The program is a member of the PCOM OPTI and more information can be found in the AOA Opportunities Internship and Residencies searchable database as PCOM/Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. The osteopathic and allopathic residencies function together with benefits, application and interview procedures being similar for both. We highly encourage our osteopathic applicants to participate in the AOA match.

In addition to a strong education in family medicine, osteopathic students will enjoy an integrated osteopathic curriculum. Interns and residents will benefit from a formal lecture series on osteopathic practices and principles, a hands-on OMT clinic, and encouragement to incorporate their osteopathic knowledge into the care of patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Graduates of this dually-certified program will be eligible to be board certified by both the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Practice.
